Kieffer Katz

Student Therapist (He/Him)

My priority as a counselor is to build trust and strengthen the therapeutic relationship, creating a safe place where people from every background can feel seen, heard, and accepted for who they are.

Kieffer Katz Disclosure Statement

I’m a third generation therapist who’s finally going into the family business after years of trying and failing to find meaning in corporate work. After double majoring in Poetry Writing and Philosophy—which I like to describe as a degree in both Feelings and Thinking, I found a role conducting research interviews with customers of various brands. That work taught me a lot about how to ask questions, how to listen, and how to help people express their needs. Working as a therapist, I seek to understand people’s needs to help them heal and grow, rather than sell them toothpaste.

I am drawn towards a mix of clinically validated techniques like cognitive behavioral therapy and more open-ended, psycho-dyanmic approaches. That being said, after studying and experimenting with a wide array of therapeutic methodologies, I’ve come to understand that the best kind of therapy is the one that works for my client. If we’re working together and you find a new or intriguing technique that you’d like to try, I’d love to explore it with you.
