I focus on helping you uncover your own insights and solutions, rather than imposing my agenda. I am also a big believer in the power of experiential healing for times when just talking is not enough

Kai Finlayson Disclosure Statement

We live in a world that can be alienating, both from others and from parts of ourselves. Healing is finding ways to re-integrate ourselves, especially with our own thoughts, feelings, bodies, and pasts. I offer an attuned and respectful approach, seeing myself as a fellow traveler to those I support. I focus on helping you uncover your own insights and solutions, rather than imposing my agenda. I am also a big believer in the power of experiential healing for times when just talking is not enough. For this reason, I draw on interventions involving the arts, nature, somatic methods, and emotion-focused therapy.
I have a great deal of experience with the neurodivergent, disabled, and LGBTQ2IA+ communities. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in direct services supporting neurodivergent people and people in need of psychiatric support in daily life, and that experience taught me a great deal about flexibility, patience, and empathy. I also learned a lot about taking a trauma-informed approach, and this remains very important to me in counseling practice. Above all, these experiences have led me to adopt an attachment-based approach that values the relationship between counselor and client.
