Chelsea Carter

MA Student Therapist (she/her)

I am a Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy Intern and am currently enrolled in the MCFT program at Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling. I work with children, teens, adults, couples, and families. I specialize in anxiety, depression, and relational conflict, and utilize the following modalities/theories to guide my practice: Attachment theory, Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT), Socio-emotional Relationship Therapy (SERT), Narrative Therapy, Play Therapy, and Sex Therapy.

I believe early caregiving experiences and family dynamics can influence the way we interact with others and shape how we see ourselves, the world, and our place in it. I work with teens and adults who have experienced relational trauma and support them in developing internal working models that depict oneself as valuable, others as trustworthy, and the world as safe. I also support couples and families that feel stuck in unproductive patterns of interaction. By identifying the thoughts, feelings, and behavior that sustain these patterns, I help couples and families find new ways of relating and interacting that make all parties feel heard, understood, safe, and appreciated.
